According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, 3.75% of adults 20 to 64 have no remaining teeth. Older adults, specifically Black and Hispanic adults, smokers, and those with lower incomes and less education, are more likely to have no remaining teeth. A staggering 70% of Americans suffer from tooth loss, and remedies such as implants, bridges, and other dental fixes can be exorbitantly expensive.
Lydie Livolsi, a Southern California entrepreneur, created My Dental Wig Mobile to provide people with missing tooth replacement alternatives in a much more cost-effective and time-effective manner. My Dental Wig is the fast, safe, and virtually painless alternative for the many Americans suffering from tooth loss. The article "7 Myths About Missing Teeth" by My Dental Wig™ is a wonderful guide for answers about dental loss.
The first thing that people notice about you is your smile, and for better or worse, this smile informs them about you regarding a wide range of questions. We all know that society rewards a brilliant smile, while at the same time it forms negative connotations associated with a toothless smile.
Myth #1: "If It's in the Back, Missing Teeth Don't Matter"
This fallacy ignores the reality that a single missing tooth, regardless of its placement, has a deleterious effect on its neighbors. That's because the remaining teeth tend to slide towards the empty spot, causing misalignment of all the remaining teeth. Additionally, the added space resulting from the missing tooth serves as a gathering point for additional plaque, which of course poses a serious threat to the rest of your mouth.
Myth #2: "I Can Wait for My Insurance From Work"
Delaying your dental treatment in the hope of obtaining dental insurance coverage is a very risky strategy. Indeed, the majority of dental plans are really little more than discounted plans that do little beyond covering costs of mere cleanings and preventative measures. These plans focus on keeping your existing teeth healthy, while doing little to return your smile to its original glory, if you have lost one of your teeth.
Myth #3: "Implants and Bridges are the Best Remedy for Missing Teeth"
In terms of avoiding drilling into healthy teeth and tender gums, dental implants and bridges are not necessarily the ideal solution to missing teeth, nor are they cost-effective or affordable. Both implants and bridgeworks are invasive non eco-friendly dental procedures.
They can be avoided with the use of My Dental Wig. Rather than waiting for months for expensive implant or bridge work, you can be smiling within a week with eco-friendly My Dental Wig.
Myth #4: "Bone Grafts are for Future Work"
Every time you need to have an implant, the dentist must drill into healthy bones for a successful install operation. Grafts are designed to slow down bone loss and reduce shrinking around the gums. The idea behind bone graft is that as the body heals, the bone graft will blend and create new bone.
With My Dental Wig, a thick jawbone and heavy saliva provide great sucking power that keeps the Dental Wig attached where it belongs, without painful drilling into healthy bone and tissue.
Myth #5: "People with Missing Teeth Have No Quality of Life Issues"
Numerous sociological studies have pointed out that missing front teeth can adversely affect a wide range of functions, from employment and promotion opportunities to personal life. For better or worse, society notices the quality of your teeth, and as mentioned, society rewards a brilliant smile, and at the same time it forms negative connotations associated with a toothless smile.
With My Dental Wig, you can approach everything with poise and confidence.
Mtyth #6: "Replacing Missing Teeth is Painful"
With all the drilling into healthy teeth and digging into live bone with metallic objects, it's understandable that this myth is a reality for most people with missing teeth.
However, with My Dental Wig you don't have to suffer anymore. It is a completely pain-free and eco-friendly option for a better smile. As such, you don't need to endure pain, bleeding, or a long recuperation time.
Myth #7: "The Dentist Office is the Only Place to Fix Missing Teeth"
With My Dental Wig Mobile System, you have an alternative to going to the dentist when it comes to fixing your missing teeth. In fact, you don't have to go anywhere because My Dental Wig technicians will come to you at your house. We offer a fast, safe, painless, affordable and eco-friendly option when it comes to fixing missing teeth.
I was able to sit down and chat with Lydie Livolsi, My Dental Wig CEO, and ask some important questions.
How did you get the idea to start My Dental Wig Mobile?
Well, I grew up in Africa with a sister who was a dentist. My grandmother, a beautiful woman, loved roasted crunchy peanuts. Yet she had missing teeth. Because she couldn’t chew, she would kneel on the floor and crush her roasted peanuts on our ancestral stone plate. As far as I can remember, I had always been wondering why grandma, even though she was beautiful, looked unhappy and shy, because I’d never seen her smiling. Later on, when I was in dental school, I realized that on the contrary, grandma was happy. Yet because she only had 2 canines left on her upper jaw, her smile conveyed unhappiness. This is when I realized how important teeth are for our beauty and our self- confidence. Grandma looked shy because she was embarrassed of having most of her front teeth missing.
My grandmother asked my dentist sister to make her teeth so she could eat crunchy roasted peanuts. My sister replied that she was a dentist so she didn't make teeth. That's when I decided to go to France to learn how to make teeth.
My family sent me in a private dental school in France. Eighteen months later, my grandma passed away without her teeth. I was devastated. During the summer break, I went back home and I pledged on her grave that because I wasn’t able to make her teeth as promised, I would make teeth for all the people in need around the world. I wanted to honor her. I returned to school and graduated. I then worked as an employee, then as a self-employed dental technician. I always bore in mind my vow to honor my grandma and to be truthful to my word.
During the late 1990s, implants started to be strategically positioned as the missing teeth replacement option for the future. They were expensive. I thought that as a dental manufacturer, it was my responsibility to find a greater product and make it affordable. With that determination, I chose to study regulation and normalization in the dental manufacturing industry for my Master's thesis. All my research was focused on understanding why people can't solve their missing teeth problems anywhere else than at the dentist's office. My conclusion was clear: the only reason why dentists can deliver dentures (except in Canada) is because they are in control of dental impressions.
This is how I came out with my first patent of the adjustable dental impression tray. I won the French Trophy of Development and Technology from L’ANVAR Innovation, the former French Government Agency for Innovation. Then my second patent pertained to the kit of oneself impression taking. My third invention, filed in U.S., was a kit for manufacturing dental appliances out of the oneself impression-taking process.
With the development of the internet that enabled online shopping, the expansion of Amazon and Ebay, and the closure of many big retail stores, I decided to launch My Dental Wig Mobile. This last innovation offers great services that match consumers’ needs and make My Dental Wig more accessible by cutting off mobility obstacles.
