What Are The Top Causes of Toothaches?

Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is damage to the tooth and they can cause bad toothaches. It can affect both the outer coating of a tooth (called enamel) and the inner layer of a tooth (called dentin). Tooth decay is caused by foods with carbohydrates in them like bread, cereal, milk, soda, fruit, cake, or candy The bacteria in the mouth turn these foods into acid and it causes a lot of pain. The bacteria, acid, food debris, and saliva forms plaque that sticks to the teeth. The acids in plaque dissolve the enamel that creates holes in the teeth called cavities.

Abscessed Teeth

An abscess is a pocket of pus that forms around the root of an infected tooth which brings on pain in the teeth. Anyone from a child to a senior citizen can get an abscessed tooth. An abscessed tooth happens when tooth decay affects the root beneath the tooth that we can see. It is very painful (a lot worse than toothaches) and needs to be taken care of as soon as possible because it can result in the loss of bone and tissue.

Grinding Teeth

The majority of people grind their teeth from time to time. It usually does not hurt the teeth. However, when it happens on a regular basis, it can damage the teeth and cause other oral health issues. It can be caused by anxiety, stress, or sleep disorders.

Gum Diseases

Gum diseases begin when bacteria grow in the mouth and can end with the tooth loss that is caused by the destruction of the tissue that surrounds the teeth. The symptoms of it include a dull pain in the mouth, red bleeding gums, and, at times, teeth pain. Join here, you will get our complete line of Smile care products delivered to you every 3 months.
